Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport (CAICA) is located in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. It is conveniently situated close to Onitsha and accessible from major roads within the state.
Construction of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport commenced in 2019. The first set of aeroplanes operated by Airpeace and Private Jet landed at the airport on 30th April 2021 as a test flight. The airport was commissioned by the then Governor Chief Willie Obiano on 30th October 2021, having been certified by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). Commercial flight operations commenced on the 7th of December 2021. The airport was renamed on 1st October 2023 by Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
The airport starts operations at 7am and closes at 7pm, Monday to Sunday.
Currently, Air Peace and United Nigeria Airline operate scheduled commercial flights in and out of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport, connecting Umueri to Lagos and Abuja. Unscheduled and charter services are also available for private jet, cargo, and general aviation operations. Please contact the airlines directly for up-to-date flight schedules.
You can book your flight ticket directly through the official websites or booking portals of the operating airlines — Air Peace (flyairpeace.com) and United Nigeria Airline (unitednigeria.com). Tickets are also available through accredited travel agents and airline ticketing offices.

There is currently no charge for brief drop-offs at the designated drop-off zone. For extended stays in the drop-off zone, a parking fee may apply. Please enquire at the airport information desk for the current policy.
