Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport Umueri has a runway measured 3.7 km in length and 45m in width, designated 06/24. It is equipped with CAT II high-intensity runway lights for safe operations in low visibility, and has Runway End Safety Areas (RESA) at both ends.
The runway markings comply with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and ICAO standards and recommended practices. The markings clearly indicate centrelines, thresholds, edges, Touch Down Zones and more, aiding pilots in navigation during takeoff and landing. It is classified as Code 4E and can accommodate any category of aircraft.

It offers panoramic views of the runway and taxiways, allowing controllers to monitor all ground and aerial activities.
The Technical Building is equipped with advanced technology to ensure safe and efficient coordination between pilots and ground personnel, adhering to all aviation standards. It also houses the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), which provides weather information for safe aircraft operations.

Fire Station
Category 6 ARFFS — Ready for Any Emergency
The fire station at Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport Umueri is equipped with three Ziegler Z6 firefighting vehicles, designed for rapid response to emergencies by the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) personnel. A water tanker ensures continuous water supply to the fire trucks during operations.
The fire station also accommodates a kitchen, restaurant, gym, conference room, cool room, training hall, and several offices and stores. It features a fire tower offering a panoramic view of the runway, allowing personnel to monitor activities and respond swiftly when needed. The airport is presently rated Category 6 ARFFS.
